I think that the design is coming into focus for me. The final piece in the puzzle is the idea of adding a new class of attributes to each country. That class would consist of the elements that make for a strong economy. My first cut at the problem is three elements: raw materials, low-tech manufacturing (clothing, plastics, cars, etc) and high-tech manufacturing (electronics, nuclear, solar panels, etc).
