I wonder if a useful set of verbs would be available if I added a set of voluntary groups that the playing countries can join or leave. These groups would have varying degrees of affinity for or association with China or the USA. For example, the Trans Pacific Partnership, a trade group, wasa originally designed to ease trade among the countries of the Pacific rim. Both the US and China had expressed an interest in joining it. But then nationalistic forces intervened and the US dropped out. Now the TPP is clearly identified as favorable to China. Some countries that are not necessarily aligned with China are nevertheless part of it.
In like fashion, NATO is closely associated with America. Countries leaving it reduce American prestige.
So the question I am contemplating is, can I produce a mixed set of such groups that would allow countries to shift their alignment by degrees towards one of the superpowers?
