Molly was born on May 21st, 2010, at the Josephine County Pound; we adopted her on August 23rd, 2010. She’s mostly Dalmation, but she has some other stuff mixed in there. She’s very bright, learning the household rules very quickly. She is, however, somewhat willful.
Molly’s peculiar way of sitting flat on her belly
Molly developed a limp in March of 2025, so we took her to the vet, how diagnosed bone cancer in her left foreleg. They amputated her leg and warned us that most dogs who get bone cancer survive an average of only six months. But she kept going. She managed to clump along on three legs, but couldn’t go far or fast.
In the summer of 2026, she started going downhill. She was growing weak from old age, not from cancer. As she did, she found it harder and harder to go outside to pee and poop. She was making quite a mess in the bedroom, despite our covering the carpet with puppy pads. I would often carry her outside so that she could pee and poop. But she kept growing weaker. On August 31st we decided that she was in pain so we took her to the vet to be euthanized. She lived for 16 years and 3 months.
